Here’s how to proceed to host your Web site Please take note : The programming languages supported by Cogeco servers : HTML, JAVA, JAVASCRIPT, DHTML, FLASH, and CGI in PERL (SQL, ASP and PHP are not supported by Cogeco) The main file should be named index.html If you do not have a domain name and would like to take advantage of our Web space (e.g. sites.cgocable.ca/companyname) your FTP session parameters will then be : • Host : sites.cgocable.ca • User name : supplied by Cogeco • Password : supplied by Cogeco If you have your own domain name (e.g. companyname.com), it should point towards our DNS servers as follows : • Primary DNS : ns1.cgocable.ca with IP address 205.151.69.200 • Secondary DNS : ns2.cgocable.ca with IP address 205.151.68.200 Your FTP session parameters will then be : • Host : Your company name preceded by www. • User name : supplied by Cogeco • Password : supplied by Cogeco Visitation statistics : To obtain access to your Web site visitation statistics, you can make a request by communicating with us via phone. How to obtain your own domain name? Step 1 - Reserve a domain name (e.g. www.yourcompany.com) with a supplier like Register Site at www.misk.com or Network Solutions at www.networksolutions.com or www.webdomaine.ca. Please note that only credit cards payments are authorized. It is important to print the result of the Internet transaction so that you have a receipt and essential login information in hand. Cogeco offers you the possibility of reserving a domain name for you at a cost of $25,00. You just have to supply your credit card information and an agent will take care of the reservation for you. Step 2 - You now have to modify the DNS information to reflect Cogeco’s because in most cases the supplier attributes its own parameters. • Primary DNS : ns1.cgocable.ca – 205.151.69.200 • Secondary DNS : ns2.cgocable.ca – 205.151.68.200 Step 3 - Contact-us after 1 or 2 days so that we can transfer your domain on our server and supply you with the necessary FTP session parameters.
