INTERNET DIAL-UP CONTROL

The Internet Dial-Up Control prevents viruses and other malware programs from making any changes to your dial-up settings without your permission. It allows you to validate all phone numbers when pre-defined Windows dial-up connections are used, effectively blocking viruses, spywares, adwares or other programs from modifying your dial-up numbers to a 976, 1-900 or an overseas dial-up number without your permission. The Internet Dial-Up Control enables you to create a directory of approved phone numbers that are not blocked, making the protection seamless and transparent.

Why do I need Internet dial-up protection?

Only COGECO customers who have a phone line plugged into their PCs (for faxes for example) need protection against Internet dialers. This is one of the advantages of not using your phone line to access the Internet. Dialers make unauthorized long distance calls that phone companies are unable to block and that you will be required to pay for.
