10-DIGIT LOCAL DIALING |
10-digit local dialing is now mandatory in
specific regions. |
| |
|
The huge growth in the popularity of phone services and technology that’s
been experienced across the country over the last several years has led to an
important increase in the demand for new phone numbers.
Therefore, all
Cogeco Digital phone customers must always dial the 10-digit telephone number of
the person they wish to reach, whether it is a local call or a long distance
call anywhere in North America.
In order to meet this demand, 10-digit
local dialing is the solution. |

What is 10-digit
dialing?
10-digit local dialing means that when dialing a local
number, you’ll simply need to add the 3-digit area code to the 7-digit phone
number you’ve always called.
For your safety and convenience, the 911
Emergency services number will NOT change in any way – it will still require
that you dial only 3 digits
(911). | | |
|
|
Will your phone number change?
The new area codes will
only be assigned to new telephone numbers and will coexist with the current area
codes in the same regions. So your phone number will not
change. | | |

All local calls must be preceded by the area code.
Otherwise, they will not go through. To be sure that you’re prepared, add the
area code to all programmed numbers in any telecommunication equipment you have,
such as:
• Speed-dial lists • Fax machines • Alarm
and security systems* • Equipment for the
hearing impaired • Cellular phones and other
wireless devices • Modems and Internet dial-up
systems • Telephone options and functions (such
as Call Forwarding, etc.)
