Q:
I am building a new home.
How do I make arrangements to have my home pre-wired for cable
service?
A:
Call us to discuss your
plans. We will arrange for you to obtain a COGECO Pre-wire Form. Complete the
Pre-wire Form fully and enclose a cheque, payable to COGECO, in the amount of
$75 plus taxes. This will entitle you to four pre-wired outlets (the fifth and
each additional outlet is charged at $20 plus taxes). For your convenience, we
will provide you with our orange CATV stickers. Simply place the stickers at the
location(s) where the pre-wire is required. Be sure to allow us sufficient
notice so that we may best meet your needs. A pre-wire is completed after the
electrical work in your new home has been completed, but before the drywall goes
up. |

Q:
Why do I have to wait 6-8
weeks or longer for my cable to be buried?
A: Depending on the time of
year, our construction department is very busy completing buried wire requests.
This process requires several steps to complete and they are completed in a
specific order. All digging requires locates by other utility companies, such as
hydro, water and gas. Contractors are then able to complete the work depending
on the weather conditions. Note: Buried drops are not done during the winter
months; they will be completed in the spring after the ground thaws.

Q:
Why do I have to be home for
the cable to be installed? Can't you just hook it up from
outside?
A:
At the time of installation,
a technician will come to your home, confirm the services you have ordered and
install or relocate outlets in your home to your preference. He will deliver any
equipment you may have requested and will ask the person responsible for the
cable service to provide identification and sign a work order. |
