Cogeco Laptop Contest - Rules and Regulations


1. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. To be eligible, participants must fulfil one of the two following conditions, in addition to the conditions hereafter mentioned: 1) Have notified Cogeco Cable (“Cogeco”) via the Cogeco website online tool of their upcoming move and transferred to their new address their Cogeco services subscription; or 2) Have mailed to Cogeco Laptop Contest, P.O. Box 4007, Paris, ON N3L 3W9, an entry including their name, address and telephone number as well as a 100 word essay describing why they want to win a Laptop. Limit: one participation per subscriber.

2. Contest is open to all legal residents of Quebec and Ontario except employees, management staff, representatives or agents of Cogeco and its affiliated companies, the contest judges, contest and media partners as well as any person domiciled with, or any immediate family member, of any of the above-mentioned persons. A minor can participate to the contest and win if: (i) he obtains the permission of his parents or legal guardians prior to participating (ii) his parents or legal guardians accept the prize on his behalf; and (iii) the participant complies with the rules and regulations herein described.

3. For Quebec residents any dispute related to the organization or the conduct of a contest can be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any dispute related to the attribution of a prize can be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.

4. The contest begins April 14, 2008 and ends August 15, 2008, in Quebec, and begins May 1, 2008 and ends August 31, 2008, in Ontario.
5. All Quebec entries must be received by August 15, 2008, and all Ontario entries must be received by August 31, 2008.

6. All entries become the sole property of Cogeco. No responsibility shall be taken by Cogeco for lost, stolen, delayed, damaged, incomplete or misdirected entries.

7. There is one prize to be won. The winner will receive a Sony Vaio FZ Series Notebook with an approximate retail value of one thousand two hundred and ninety-nine dollars and ninety-nine cents ($1299.99 CDN). In order to win, the selected entrant must correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question.

8. Cogeco does not offer any warranty, either expressly stated or implied, other than the manufacturer’s warranty related to the prize. The prize must be accepted as awarded, with no cash substitution, and is non-transferable.

9. A random draw from all entries received by August 31, 2008 will take place in Brantford, ON on or about September 6th, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. for the Grand Prize. Your chance of winning will depend on the number of eligible entries received.

10. The selected entrant will be contacted by email or phone within forty-eight (48) hours of the draw. If a selected entrant cannot be contacted within the aforementioned time period, or if so contacted, does not meet all of the contest terms and conditions, he/she will forfeit their prize and another entry will be randomly selected from all remaining eligible entries within a ten (10) days delay from the first draw. The decisions of Cogeco shall be final and binding.

11. The selected entrants (or their parents or legal guardians, if applicable) will be required to sign a standard declaration and release form confirming: (i) their compliance with the rules and acceptance of the prize awarded, and (ii) releasing Cogeco and its employees, representatives, affiliates and agents (collectively the “Cogeco representatives”) from any liability arising in connection with participation in the Contest, and/or prize.

12. By entering this contest, each entrant agrees to be bound by the contest rules and regulations and consents to the use of their name, city of residence photograph / videotaped image without payment or compensation, in any publicity or advertising in any medium carried out by Cogeco.

13. Each entrant waives any liability of Cogeco and the Cogeco Representatives with regard to injury, accident, loss or damage of any kind arising out of his/her participation in this contest, compliance with the contest rules and acceptance of the prize as awarded. This contest is subject to all applicable laws and regulations.

14. Cogeco reserves the right, subject to the approval of the Regie in Quebec, to terminate or withdraw this contest at any time without prior notice.

15. Cogeco will not be liable for any error related to the contest. Cogeco will not be liable for any omission, delay or technical problem that would prevent contest participation or delay the draw.

16. The name of the winner may be obtained by mail within one hundred and twenty (120) days of the Contest Closing Date by writing to Cogeco Laptop Contest, P.O. Box 4099, Paris, ON N3L 3W9.

17. All entry ballots will be destroyed by Cogeco at the end of the contest as soon as all related formalities have been completed and according to all applicable regulations.

Cogeco iPod™ touch Contest - Rules and Regulations
